Defence minister skirts around demands for nuclear test compensation
Labour's Luke Pollard

DEFENCE Minister Luke Pollard skirted around demands for compensation for nuclear test veterans at a fringe event at the Labour conference today.

More than 20,000 personnel were present at British nuclear weapon tests between 1952 and 1967 in Australia and the South Pacific.

Former RAF worker David Kirby confronted the minister about how the Ministry of Defence had repeatedly “shut down” requests for blood records.
