TRANSPORT union RMT won a landmark victory today after securing pay increases for London Underground workers as strike action loomed.

Lower-paid members will receive raises between 5 per cent and 6.6 per cent, working out at an average increase of 4.6 per cent overall.

The deal will see improved conditions including harmonised paternity leave extended to three weeks, medically displaced staff with three years' protection of earnings and expanded eligibility for retired travel benefits.
