TRIBUTES poured in for RuPaul’s Drag Race star The Vivienne today after it was announced that they had died.
Welsh-born drag queen James Lee Williams won the first series of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK and came third in last year’s Dancing On Ice.
They performed in the The Wizard Of Oz musical on tour, and were due to perform in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang next month.
Police were called to an address in Chorlton-by-Backford on Sunday following reports of a sudden death.
A spokesperson said there were “no suspicious circumstances.”
Drag Race judge Michelle Visage called the performer a “beacon to many.”
She said: “Your laughter, your wit, your talent, your drag. I loved all of it but I loved your friendship most of all. “
Lee Williams’s ex-husband David Ludford wrote on Instagram “My heart is shattered!
“He made me feel love and showed me what it was really like to love someone.”
The drag star was punched in a homophobic attack in June 2023.
Alan Whitfield received a suspended jail term for the hate crime last January.
