TORY leadership hopeful Robert Jenrick has accused his rival Kemi Badenoch has been “disrespectful” to party members by failing to set out her policies.

He made the claim despite having signed up to the yellow card penalty system intended to stop “blue-on-blue” infighting at the start of the contest to replace Rishi Sunak.

Mr Jenrick insisted that all Conservatives wanting to stand as candidates at the next election would have to pledge to support Britain’s withdrawal from the European Court of Human Rights (EHCR) if he became party leader.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Westminster Hour: “I think it’s disrespectful to the members and the public to ask for their votes without saying where you stand on the big issues facing our country today.”

Ms Badenoch has not ruled out leaving the ECHR. 

A Badenoch campaign source told the BBC: “Kemi and Rob have different campaign approaches and she has no desire to criticise his approach.”
