Unions and green groups to demand government funding for ‘green’ jobs
UNIONS and green groups will rally on Wednesday demanding that the government allocate £1.9 billion a year to create “green” jobs for oil and gas workers.
The government’s target to end fossil fuel use for energy production in Britain is 2030.
Unions including Unite, RMT and Civil Service union PCS, and green campaigns including Greenpeace and Extinction Rebellion, have formed a coalition demanding funding for the transition to renewable energy from now until 2030.
