Marx Library launches community exhibition on local history

THE Marx Memorial Library and Workers’ School (MML), in partnership with The Peel Centre, is opening a new community exhibition on the history of the district in which the library stands.

Radical Clerkenwell Reinterpreted invites visitors to explore the area’s radical history, from the 1381 Peasants’ Revolt to contemporary May Day marches, through the eyes of the local community.

“This project is a pioneering step for the Marx Memorial Library,” says library director Meirian Jump.

“It not only brings our rich archival materials to life through the voices of local residents, but also marks the launch of our venue as a community exhibition space, supporting our future plans to develop this area further.”

The exhibition will be on display from September 25 until the end of 2024 and will be accessible during MML events and the library’s twice-weekly tours on Mondays and Thursdays.
