
CHINA: Beijing announced on Friday that it is imposing provisional anti-dumping duties of up to 62.4 per cent on imports of pork from the European Union.
The Commerce Ministry said in a statement that it made a preliminary determination that Europe is dumping pork and pig by-products on the Chinese market and causing “substantial damage” to China’s pork industry.
It said it was imposing duties starting on September 10.
SRI LANKA: A passenger bus veered off a road and plunged into a precipice in a mountainous region in Sri Lanka, killing 15 people and injuring 16 others, a police spokesman said Friday.
The accident reportedly occurred on Thursday night near the town of Wellawaya, about 174 miles east of the capital Colombo.

PAKISTAN: Islamabad signed $8.5 billion (£6.3bn) in new investment agreements with China during a visit to Beijing by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan’s media reported on Friday.
The accords were finalised on Thursday in the Chinese capital city include $7bn (£5bn) in a memoranda of understanding and $1.5bn (£1.12bn) in joint ventures including agriculture, renewable energy and electric vehicles.
