AFRICA: Rwanda’s army and a militia that it backs “indiscriminately” shelled camps for displaced people in eastern Congo, Human Rights Watch has reported, which also accused Congo of abuses against civilians.

Both sides have killed camp residents, committed rapes and obstructed aid, the group said. Eastern Congo has struggled with armed violence for years as more than 120 arms groups fight for power, land and mineral resources.
