ROMANIA: Parliamentary elections took place today after far-right candidate Calin Georgescu won the most votes in the first  round of a presidential contest marked by claims of electoral violations.

Today’s elections took place a week after the 62-year-old won the most votes but not enough to win the presidency without a run-off vote.

BELGIUM: The European Union nation became the first country in the world to allow sex workers to sign formal employment contracts and gain the same rights as other professions today after controversially decriminalising the industry in 2022.

The move allows sex workers to access health insurance, paid leave, maternity benefits, unemployment support and pensions, as well as establishing rules on working hours, pay and safety measures. 

SPAIN: Tens of thousands of people marched in the streets of Valencia on Saturday to mark a month from the devastating flash floods and to demand the resignation of regional officials.
