Welsh language campaigners call for bolder measures to boost children speaking Welsh
WELSH LANGUAGE MINISTER: Mark Drakeford

CAMPAIGNERS called for radical measures today after a survey supported all children leaving school to speak the Welsh language confidently.

According to language campaign group, Cymdeithas yr Iaith, the survey results show the Welsh government needs to be more “radical” with plans for Welsh-medium education in proposed legislation.

More than half the people in a YouGov survey believe schools should aim to educate all pupils to become confident Welsh speakers, with a third disagreeing.
