Weir rescues Real Madrid while Lyon extend perfect record
Scotland's Caroline Weir reacts following the international friendly match at KDM Group East End Park, Dunfermline, October 28, 2025

SCOTLAND forward Caroline Weir scored a dramatic late equaliser as Real Madrid drew 1-1 with Paris FC in the Women’s Champions League.

The Spanish side were heading for their first defeat in the competition this season after Lorena Azzaro’s 41st-minute penalty gave the visitors the lead.

But eight minutes into added time, Weir struck from the edge of the penalty area to rescue a point for her side.

Real sit third in the table after two wins and a draw from their opening three games.

Eight-time winners Lyon remain perfect after swatting aside Wolfsburg 3-1.

Their third win from as many outings was secured by Ada Hegerberg’s first-half brace and Wendie Renard’s 72nd-minute spot-kick.

Lineth Beerensteyn pulled one back with 10 minutes left for two-time winners Wolfsburg, whose 100 per cent start to the league phase came to an end.

Chelsea beat St Polten 6-0 as Sam Kerr, on her first Blues start since December 2023, and Catarina Macario scored twice apiece. Wieke Kaptein set the ball rolling and Lisa Ebert added an own goal.

Norwegian side Valerenga got their first victory by seeing off Roma 1-0.

Stine Brekken’s superb individual effort in the 40th minute settled the game between two teams who went into the round without a point.

Brekken picked up the ball 40 yards out, nutmegged her opponent, drove to the edge of the penalty area and fired into the top corner.
