NEW older people’s champion in Wales has blasted the energy price cap rise and the Westminster government’s axing of winter fuel payments to many.
Older People’s Commissioner for Wales Rhian Bowen-Davies takes office today and has set out a vision for Wales leading the way in tackling inequality and enabling everyone to live and age well.
“My team and I will also scrutinise a wide range of policy and practice that impact older people’s quality of life and I will not hesitate to hold organisations and individuals to account,” Ms Bowen-Davies said.
“Working with and on behalf of older people I look forward to making a positive contribution safeguarding rights, challenging discrimination and tackling inequality.”
Ms Bowen-Davies has taken over the statutory role from Helena Herklots.
