TSSA to launch training to tackle workplace violence

TRANSPORT workers’ union TSSA is launching a campaign to tackle workplace violence this week through free online training.

It comes in response to the Rail Safety and Standards Board’s annual report, which found that assaults on staff have increased by 36 per cent since 2018-19, despite passenger journeys being 5 per cent lower since the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than 2,700 members of the workforce were injured or recorded shock or trauma due to assault and abuse in 2023-24.
