EVEN Tory voters have admitted they are worse off since their party held onto power four years ago, a poll published today shows.
Some 53 per cent of the 1,000-plus people surveyed told pollsters Ipsos they felt worse off now than they did when the Tories were re-elected in 2019, including 45 per cent of those who voted Conservative in that election.
Some 46 per cent of those polled voiced fears about the state of public services following brutal budget cuts by Chancellor Jeremy Hunt, while 42 per cent were concerned about the state of Britain’s economy.
Labour did not fare well in the survey: only 30 per cent of people felt they would be better off if leader Sir Keir Starmer entered No 10, but 51 per cent of participants thought that they would be even worse off if current Prime Minister Rishi Sunak were re-elected.
A meagre 15 per cent felt they would be better off if Mr Sunak stayed in charge.
