ZARAH SULTANA gave a keynote speech to about 700 people who attended the launch of Your Party West Yorkshire on Wednesday night.

The former Labour MP and co-leader of the nascent left-wing party told a hall in Beeston, Leeds: “Everyone can see the danger yet we are locked in a path of decline and millions of people have lost faith that politics has power to change their lives. 

“They see politicians not serving anyone but themselves and too many people are pushed to believe that actually nothing will change. 

“While the super-rich hold more wealth and power — but that can’t be the whole story. It’s not the whole story and at the heart of our movement is a very different truth.

“A truth that by standing together we can fight back, lift each other up and collectively win.”

Your Party’s founding conference will be held in Liverpool on November 29 and 30.
