Leyton Orient players celebrate after an own goal by Tamworth's Kennedy Digie during the FA Cup first round match at The Lamb Ground, Tamworth, November 3, 2025

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Leyton Orient’s reward for their sketchy 1-0 win at Tamworth in Monday night’s FA Cup match is a second round trip to Salford City.

Among the other 19 ties, four of the smaller clubs left in the competition were drawn together with Chelmsford hosting Weston-super-Mare and Macclesfield travelling to Slough while 2013’s champions Wigan will face Barrow and four-time winners Bolton travel to Swindon.

HORSE RACING: Female jockey Jamie Melham steered All Yours to victory in the Melbourne Cup early this morning.

The Australian trained horse finished almost three lengths ahead of Irish owned 40/1 shot Goodie Two Shoes, with Middle Earth a further one and half lengths back in third.

The Melbourne Cup is a two-mile handicap race, with the winner taking home over £2 million in prize money.

MEN’S CRICKET: New Zealand return to Twenty20 cricket on Wednesday when they face the West Indies in the first leg of their five match series at Auckland’s Eden Park.

Despite crushing England in their recent one-day series, the Kiwis have lost their last three short format games, while the Windies whitewashed Bangladesh 3-0 in their recent Twenty20 series.

New Zealand are ranked as the world’s 4th best team, two places above the tourists.

WHEELCHAIR RUGBY LEAGUE: England scored six second-half tries as they came from 30-18 down to beat Australia 48-42 in Queensland and sealed a 2-0 ashes series win.

Captain Lewis King bagged a hat-trick for the English, but with the scores level at 42-42, it took Rob Hawkins’ try two minutes from the final whistle for the reigning world champions to finally end Australia’s challenge.

The 2026 world cup will take place in Australia.
