MEN’S FOOTBALL: The Scottish Cup third round kicks off tomorrow evening with Lowland League team Linlithgow Rose welcoming 10-time winners Queen’s Park to Prestonfield. The match will be televised live by the BBC.

Saturday’s remaining 19 fixtures include 2007’s champions Dunfermline taking on Queen of the South and Benburb, the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, up against Montrose from League One.

WOMEN’S CRICKET: Captain Sarah Bryce hit an unbeaten 39 as Scotland beat Papua New Guinea by six wickets with just one ball to spare in the Emerging Nations Twenty20 Trophy that is being played in Thailand.

Tasmanian-born Chloe Abel had taken 5-14 as the Papua New Guineans were restricted to 118/8 in their innings. The unbeaten Scots top the table after five games and face the Netherlands in Bangkok tomorrow morning.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: Germany host defending champions Spain in Kaiserslautern tomorrow evening for the first leg of their Nations League final.

The Germans were undefeated during their qualifying campaign, while world number ones Spain lost once, to England at Wembley in February.

France meet Sweden in Reims tonight for the first leg of their third-place match. The second legs will be played in Madrid and Solna next Tuesday.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Ireland lock forward James Ryan has received a three-week ban for the dangerous clear-out he made on South Africa’s Malcom Marx during the first half of their 24-13 defeat in Dublin last week.

The punishment can be reduced by a week if he completes World Rugby’s coaching intervention programme.

Twenty-nine-year-old Ryan, who plays club rugby for Leinster, has won 76 caps for Ireland and two for the British and Irish Lions.
