MEN’S FOOTBALL: England overtook Slovakia at the top of their European Under-21 Championships qualifying group after a 4-0 victory in Presov made it five successive wins with clean sheets.

The defending champions now have a two-point lead with a match in hand at the halfway stage of the campaign.

Stoke’s on-loan Manchester City striker Divin Mubama scored twice, while Fulham’s Josh King netted his first at this level just five minutes after coming on as a substitute after Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri had made it 2-0.

WOMEN’S CRICKET: England all-rounder Danni Wyatt-Hodge top scored with an unbeaten 72 from 54 balls as the Hobart Hurricanes beat Adelaide by four wickets on Tuesday to preserve the Big Bash’s only unbeaten record and move two points clear of Melbourne Renegades at the top of the table.

After restricting Adelaide to 134-7 Darcie Brown took 4-16 in her four overs as the Hurricanes struggled to their target with only two balls to spare.

MEN’S RUGBY UNION: Belgium narrowly failed to qualify for their first ever World Cup finals after drawing 13-13 with Samoa in Dubai on Tuesday.

Despite being unbeaten in the four-team tournament, the Belgians missed out on a trip to Australia in 2027 by just one try bonus point.

It’s the tenth time in a row that the Samoans, ranked as the world’s 17th best team, have reached the finals.

WOMEN’S FOOTBALL: The fourth round of Champions League matches conclude on Thursday evening with three-time winners Barcelona putting their 100 per cent record on the line against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in a repeat of last year’s semi-final.

Paris St Germain are looking for their first point when they host Bayern Munich, while tomorrow night’s other fixtures see Belgium’s Leuven face Roma and Twente Enschede up against Atletico Madrid.
