Surrey paceman Gus Atkinson makes his test debut against the West Indies at Lord’s tomorrow. Atkinson has played only five County Championship matches this season, taking 14 wickets.

Surrey team-mate Jamie Smith also wins his first cap after being selected as wicket-keeper, a role he doesn’t routinely fill for his county.

Off-spinner Shoaib Bashir plays his first home Test after winning three caps on the winter tour of India.

SPEEDWAY:

Birmingham are anchored firmly to the bottom of the Premiership after they sank to a 37-23 defeat at home to Oxford in a rain-curtailed contest on Monday night.

Oxford’s Maciej Janowski, Chris Harris and Erik Riss all bagged a maximum nine points from their three rides.

The Brummies are three points below second bottom King’s Lynn, who were deducted two points in May, and have raced three more meetings.

MEN’S FOOTBALL:

With most eyes on tonight’s Euros semi-final between the Netherlands and England, Irish Premiership champions Larne travel to Latvia’s Rigas SF for a Champions League first qualifying round tie.

Bulgarian champions Ludogorets, who have reached the group stages of the Champions League on two previous occasions, drawing 2-2 with Liverpool in 2015, also start their campaign by hosting Georgia’s Dinamo Batumi.

MEN’S CRICKET:

Zimbabwe meet India for the third leg of their five match Twenty20 series in Harare tomorrow.

The hosts won the first match by 13 runs, before Abhishek Sharma smashed a century in 47 balls to lead the world champions to a 100-run victory in game two.

India are currently ranked as the world’s best short format team, 11 places above Zimbabwe, but have selected a largely inexperienced squad for this tour.
