MEN’S FOOTBALL: Mexico’s Pachuca will play Real Madrid in the Intercontinental Cup Final after beating Cairo-based Ah-Ahly on penalties in Saturday’s Challenger Cup play-off.

With the scores level at 0-0 after 120 minutes, Pachuca missed their first two spot kicks in the penalty shoot-out before claiming a 6-5 win.

Real Madrid warmed up for the final by coming from behind to draw 3-3 with mid-table Real Vallecano in Saturday night’s La Liga game.

MEN’S CRICKET: The West Indies begin their three match Twenty20 series against Bangladesh on St Vincent on Monday.

The Windies are currently ranked as the fourth best short format team, five places above Bangladesh, and in Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie have two of the world’s top ten bowlers.

Bangladesh slumped to a 3-0 defeat in the one-day matches earlier this month after drawing the test series 1-1.

WOMEN’S BOXING: Natasha Jonas earned a comfortable unanimous points win over Croatia’s Ivana Habazin to claim both the IBF and WBC welterweight titles in her home town Liverpool on Saturday night.

On the undercard, Wales’ Lauren Price defended her WBA welterweight belt with a third round knock-out against previously unbeaten Bexcy Mateus.

Jonas and Price are contracted to meet for a unification bout in early Spring 2025.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Wigan Warriors hooker Brad O’Neill has signed a five-year contract with the

club. The former Halton Farnworth Hornets player joined Wigan’s scholarship scheme in 2017 and has already won two Challenge Cups, a World Club Challenge and Super League Grand Final with the club.

O’Neill made his international debut for England against France in June but suffered an ACL injury in July that will sideline him for another four months.
