RMT union members within Royal Fleet Auxiliary (RFA) intensified their pay dispute today with strike actions across British and international waters.
It was the third round of strikes in the dispute and saw participation from Birkenhead, Merseyside, to Darwin in Australia.
RMT general secretary Mick Lynch said: “This latest strike is about more than fair pay — it’s about gaining the respect and recognition that seafarers deserve for their vital contributions worldwide.
“We urge all members to stay strong and united in their fight for a just pay rise and better working conditions, which they have rightfully earned.”
About 50 RMT members were on the picket at Cammell Lairds in Birkenhead, which was moved so members of other unions did not have to cross it.
More than 450 members of Unite and GMB refused to cross the picket after RMT members staged industrial action last month.
The action was then linked to several suspensions.
