EVIDENCE of a particularly appalling Israeli war crime was found on Saturday: the wreckage of a family car with six bodies inside and the remains of an ambulance sent to help when the car came under attack by a tank.

The Palestinian Red Crescent accused Israeli forces of targeting the ambulance as it pulled up near the Hamada family’s vehicle as they tried to flee Gaza City on January 29.

The ambulance was dispatched after one of the car’s occupants, 15-year-old Layan, made desperate phone call to relatives and emergency services pleading for help as the vehicle was being fired on by Israeli troops.
