No to War - No to Nato receives lifetime war abolisher award
Protesters take part in a Stop the War protest in Edinburgh, November 2009

AN INTERNATIONAL network that has led the way in educating on alternatives to Nato has won a lifetime award, it was announced today.

No to War — No to Nato was given the Lifetime Organisational War Abolisher Award from World Beyond War.

The network has organised demonstrations and creative actions opposing Nato militarism since 2009, and includes 650 organisations in over 30 countries.

Co-chair Kristine Karch, founding members Reiner Braun, Kate Hudson, Arielle Denis, and international co-ordination committee member Ludo De Brabander will accept the award at an online ceremony on July 22.

Ms Karch commented: “Nato is an increasing obstacle to achieving world peace.

“With its wars, Nato has produced a minimum of 1.3 million dead, plus destroyed countries and failed states.

“Nato belongs in the dustbin of history to be replaced by institutions and initiatives that respect common security, defend human rights, and work for peaceful international relations, disarmament, and real human security.”
