Merthyr Tydfil residents join show of solidarity with Palestine

RESIDENTS in Merthyr Tydfil joined a show of solidarity with Palestinians at the weekend to mark Eid al-Adha.

Campaigners wanted to mark the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza on what they said was meant to be a day of celebration and joy.

The vigil in demanded justice and peace for Palestinians.

Former socialist Labour MP for the Cynon Valley Beth Winter said: “Eid should be a joyous and blessed time, but for Palestinians, the suffering is unbearable, with so many killed and dying from starvation.

“I joined the vigil in Merthyr Tydfil to call for a ceasefire and a free Palestine. Eid Mubarak.”

Palestine Solidarity Campaign Cymru has praised a surge of grassroots actions in Wales in places like Tonyrefail, Gilfach Goch, Beddau, Aberdare, Aberystwyth, Wrexham and many others.

“When we tell Palestinians we are on their side and calling for justice, it shines like a light in the darkness,” PSC Cymru’s Andrew Draper said.
