Macron promises ‘floor prices’ for farm produce after protests at Paris Agricultural Fair

FRENCH President Emmanuel Macron has promised guaranteed “floor prices” for farm products after clashing with protesting farmers at the Paris Agricultural Fair.
Mr Macron was booed and subjected to derisive whistles on Saturday when he spoke at the fair, which was earlier crashed by protesters who clashed with riot police.
He later held a meeting with farmers’ unions — shortly after having cancelled a planned debate after they threatened to boycott it because of the participation of Soulevements de la Terre (Earth Uprising), an anti-capitalist environmentalist organisation his government tried to ban last year for its anti-reservoir protests.
