HULL KR prop Sauaso Sue is facing a lengthy ban after being charged with spitting during his side’s Challenge Cup final victory over Warrington.
The Samoa forward was placed on report following an incident involving the Wolves’ Josh Thewlis in the second half of Saturday’s encounter at Wembley.
Sue will now face a tribunal hearing after being charged with a grade E offence — the highest under the Rugby Football League’s disciplinary system — following scrutiny by the governing body’s match review panel.
He could be handed a minimum six-game ban if found guilty, a potentially costly suspension as Rovers look to follow up their first trophy success in 40 years by landing the Super League title.
Team-mates Joe Burgess and James Batchelor have also been charged with disciplinary offences following the Robins’ dramatic 8-6 success.
Winger Burgess has had three penalty points added to his record for a grade B head contact, while Batchelor was handed five penalty points for a grade C head contact. Neither penalty is sufficient to incur a ban.
Tom Davies scored a 79th-minute try, with Mikey Lewis kicking the vital conversion, as Rovers edged Warrington to win the Challenge Cup for the first time since 1980.
Rovers, the Super League leaders, return to action when they host Catalans Dragons on Friday.
