Hudson-Smith and Asher-Smith celebrate wins in Lausanne
Dina Asher-Smith celebrates after winning the 100m during the World Athletics Diamond League meeting at the Stade Olympique de la Pontaise in Lausanne, Switzerland, August 22, 2024

MATTHEW HUDSON-SMITH and Dina Asher-Smith bounced back from their Olympic disappointments with victories in the Diamond League in Lausanne.

Hudson-Smith was pipped to gold in the men’s 400 metres final at Paris 2024 by just four hundredths of a second by Quincy Hall and the pair were expected to renew their rivalry on Thursday evening.

But Hall withdrew from the showdown and Hudson-Smith claimed the win in 43.96 seconds, eight hundredths of a second quicker than Olympic bronze medallist Muzala Samukonga.
