A MEMORIAL sculpture honouring an “exceptional” mental health nurse who lost his life to Covid-19 has been unveiled by his widow and two youngest sons.

The tribute to Grant Maganga is situated in Tameside General Hospital’s Buckton Building garden, next to the Hurst Place mental health rehabilitation unit where he worked for a decade.

It has an inscription which commemorates Mr Maganga as “our wonderful colleague and friend” and extends the tribute to all NHS workers who lost their lives during the pandemic.
