A CAMPAIGN calling for free school meals for all primary school children is to arrive in London after touring England.
No Child Left Behind, organised by the National Education Union (NEU), has exposed the scandal of schools being forced to run food banks to help hungry children and their families.
On Tuesday it is set to arrive for a rally in Parliament Square at 11am.
NEU general secretary Daniel Kebede said: “One in five schools in England now report running foodbanks.
“This is a national shame. Our school communities are doing all they can, but a crisis of this scale requires government intervention.
“We’re asking this Parliament to commit to ending child hunger in our schools so every child can learn and thrive.”
Labour MP Zarah Sultana said: “There are millions of kids in the UK who go to sleep hungry at night and then are learning on an empty stomach.”
