WHAT measures are being discussed to prevent weapons manufactured in Wales being used in alleged war crimes in the Middle East?
This was the question raised by Independent Senedd member Rhys ab Owen at today’s First Minister’s Questions.
First Minister Eluned Morgan responded saying that as defence and arms exports were not devolved matters, there had not been any discussion.
Mr ab Owen said there would be a moral liability if arms produced here were used to commit war crimes and raised the question about how public-sector pension funds in Wales are invested.
Plaid Cymru’s Peredur Owen Griffiths invited the FM to agree with a campaign of divestment, to make companies think twice before they supply Israel with weapons.
Ms Morgan said: “The UK government is responsible for making sure that happens and it's not an area that I can get involved with.”
