ON SATURDAY, members of Leeds Disabled People Against Cuts (DPac)held a protest in the heart of the constituency of Chancellor Rachel Reeves to call on her not to make planned cuts to support available for people living with disabilities including personal independence payments.

Members have been collecting letters from disabled people in Leeds to deliver them to Ms Reeves ahead of her expected announcement in the Spending Review and they read out some of the letters at the site of her old office. They intend to ensure she receives all the letters — but no-one knows where her constituency office is.

On the DPac website, Leeds DPac wrote: “Rachel, aged 46, has not been seen by any disabled constituents for several weeks.

“Rachel, we are here for you, any time you want to talk about your addiction to cuts, imaginary fiscal rules, discredited austerity economics and expensive corporate gifts.

“Please contact Disabled People Against Cuts if you see this member of Parliament. To help democracy, please remind your MP that they must listen to you and not cut what you need to live.”
