Bakers back setting up of Morning Star readers and supporters group

FOOD workers backed the setting up of a Morning Star readers and supporters’ group today to help fight the “distorted truth” of most media outlets.

A motion, which praised the Star as a “unique socialist voice in a world dominated by corporate media,” was overwhelmingly backed by BFAWU delegates gathered in Staffordshire on the final day of the union’s 2024 conference.

Spreading the reach and influence of the paper is essential in giving working people a “voice,” the motion also stressed.

Executive council member Dave Lawrence told members in Stone: “We need a daily socialist newspaper that not only educates but tells the truth.

“It reports stories that many media outlets either cover up or distort to further their own political agenda.”

There are many Morning Star readers and supporters groups across Britain.

The BFAWU became the 12th union to take shares in the People’s Press Printing Society, the co-op which publishes the paper, in 2022.
