ASLEF general secretary Mick Whelan backed a police call today for witnesses to come forward after a Tube driver was severely assaulted on the Jubilee line.
British Transport Police (BTP) say that a man boarded a train at Kilburn station at 10.40pm on Tuesday last week.
He threatened to shoot the driver, though no firearm was seen, and hit him over the head with a bottle.
The suspect then left the station and later boarded another southbound Jubilee train at a different location.
Mr Whelan said: “This was a vicious attack on one of our members who was doing his job as a train operator on London Underground, proving a public service and helping passengers get around the capital.
“This man needs to be brought to justice.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any further information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or calling (0800) 40-50-40, quoting reference number 615 of January 29.
