'Astonishing' MPs not calling for Israeli ambassador's expulsion amid Iran attacks
Israeli ambassador to the UK Tzipi Hotovely arrives at BBC Broadcasting House in London, to appear on the BBC One current affairs programme, Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg, June 15, 2025

STOP THE WAR Coalition convener Lindsey German questioned why, following Israel’s attacks on Iran, MPs have not called for ambassador Tzipi Hotovely’s expulsion from Britain.

During a speech at the Morning Star annual conference on Saturday, she pointed out that Israel is now bombing five countries simultaneously.

“I’m astonished that no-one has suggested, apart of John McDonnell, that the Israeli ambassador should be expelled from this country,” she told the central London event.

“This would not be happening without the bombing of Gaza for 18 months, without the impunity [Israeli prime minister Benjamin] Netanyahu has received from government after government.”

In January, the former shadow chancellor suggested that ambassador Ms Hotovely should face expulsion from Britain in rebuke for war crimes in Gaza.

The independent MP told the Commons that British authorities could play a “leading role” in the process of isolating Israel “economically and militarily.”
