Abolish undemocratic Welsh secretary of state role, Plaid Cymru says
PLAID CYMRU tabled a Senedd motion yesterday calling for the post of secretary for state for Wales to be abolished, accusing Labour of turning its back on devolution.
It said that the Tories have been using the “outdated” role to frustrate local democracy and that its functions should be transferred to the Welsh government.
The party also criticised shadow Welsh secretary Jo Stevens for describing the devolution of justice and policing to Wales as “fiddling around with structures and systems” last week.
