Campaigners slam Welsh language commissioner and Wrexham council

CAMPAIGNERS slammed the Welsh Language Commissioner today for its response to complaints over a council’s swimming lessons.

Welsh language campaigner group Cymdeithas yr Iaith said the commissioner’s report into a complaint about Wrexham Council’s swimming provision failed to address previous enforcement actions against the council.

Cymdeithas said a contractor’s ongoing failure to recruit Welsh speakers to provide swimming lessons raised questions about the council’s commitment to the language and the commissioner’s procedures.
