MEN’S FOOTBALL: The New Saints juggernaut rolled on with a 3-0 win over Penybont that extended their unbeaten run in the Cymru Premier to 17 games and kept them six points clear at the top with two games in hand.

Second-placed Connah’s Quay brushed aside bottom club Pontypridd 3-1, Cardiff Met won 1-0 at Bala and a Rio Dyer goal edged Haverfordwest past Caernarfon by the same score.

WOMEN’S RUGBY UNION: Mia Venner grabbed a late try as unbeaten reigning champions Gloucester-Hartpury edged to a 31-27 win at last year’s beaten finalists Exeter but Saracens still top the English Women’s Premiership, and maintained their 100 per cent record, after scoring 10 tries in a 60-17 destruction of bottom club Leicester.

Bristol overcame Ealing 41-17 and Loughborough won 24-12 at Sale in Saturday’s other fixtures.

MEN’S BOXING: Briton Sunny Edwards suffered a first career defeat when he was stopped in the 10th round of his World Flyweight unification title bout against Jesse Rodriguez in the early hours of Sunday morning in Arizona.

Twenty-three-year-old Rodriguez produced a superb performance, knocking down Edwards in the ninth round, to add the IBF title to his WBO belt and improved his career record to 19 wins without defeat.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Linfield remain top of the Irish Premiership by a point with a game in hand after easing to a 2-0 win over Glenavon, who had Robbie Garrett sent off in the 17th minute.

Second-placed Larne won 3-0 at Crusaders, Cliftonville romped to a 4-1 win at Loughall, bottom club Newry lost 1-0 at Glentoran, Dungannon gained a surprise 3-2 victory in Coleraine and struggling Ballymena went down 2-0 at home to Carrick.
