MEN’S CRICKET: Uganda beat Rwanda by nine wickets on Thursday to qualify for their first Twenty20 World Cup finals. Chasing Rwanda’s paltry target of 65 Simon Ssesazi hit the winning run at the start of the eighth over.

The Ugandans beat Zimbabwe last weekend and suffered their only loss in the African tournament to hosts and fellow qualifiers Namibia. The 2024 World Cup will be held in the US and West Indies.

MEN’S FOOTBALL: Unbeaten table-toppers The New Saints will be looking to preserve their nine-point lead in the Cymru Premier when they visit Haverfordwest tomorrow afternoon while second-placed Connah’s Quay are up against Barry Town.

MEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE: Australia’s National Rugby League champions the Penrith Panthers have confirmed that they will travel to play England’s top dogs Wigan in next year’s World Club Challenge.

Despite Australian sides having won seven of the last nine Challenges Penrith have yet to take the title, losing by a golden point to St Helens in February and suffering a 21-4 loss to Wigan in the 1991 final at Anfield.
