The winners will receive £4,500 prize money whilst the losers take home just £1,250. FA Cup giant-killers Maidstone are at Barnet on Saturday when holders Halifax Town face Altrincham, three-time winners Woking travel to Weston-Super-Mare and National League leaders Chesterfield take on Southport.
MEN’S BASKETBALL: Caledonia Gladiators’ veteran forward Princeton Onwas has received a one-game suspension for “violent conduct” during their recent 82-73 defeat by Newcastle. Onwas will miss the Gladiators game with Manchester on Sunday evening. The British Basketball League’s disciplinary panel also fined Surrey’s general manager Dan Clark for comments he made to match officials during their 100-87 loss to Newcastle.
MEN’S RUGBY UNION: The Champions Cup kicks off tonight with Connacht facing Bordeaux Begles in Group 1 whilst Glasgow take on Northampton in a Group 3 clash. Reigning champions La Rochelle open their account on Sunday with a repeat of last year’s final against Leinster in Group 4. Cardiff begin their campaign away at Toulouse on Saturday and English champions Saracens start with an away trip to the Pretoria-based Bulls.
RUGBY LEAGUE: New Zealand claimed the Golden Boot awards for both men’s and women’s international Rugby League players of the year at Wednesday’s award ceremony in Sydney. Kiwi captain James Fisher-Harris became the first prop to win the men’s award whilst compatriot Georgia Hale, who plays for the Leeds Rhinos, picked up the women’s trophy. France’s Jeremy Bourson was named as wheelchair rugby league’s international player of the year.
